on-line calibration

Figure 2

(a) batch phase - the baseline voltage corresponds to a methanol free signal followed by an on-line calibration.

(b) discrete 0.1% doses of methanol up to 0.5% resulting in the initial induction phase - methanol was then allowed to be consumed to the user defined set point of 2.6 volts which responds to 0.3% methanol from on-line calibration at 1800 secs.

(c) the methanol pump was set to deliver 0.6 mls/min and allowed to resume in stand alone control mode at 2800 secs

(d) the base line voltage was rapidly verified utilizing the bypass option and returned to standalone contorl at 0.3%

(e) returned to stand alone control at 0.3% stand alone control at 0.3% at 4000 secs

(f) the set point was changed to 0% methanol as derived from the on-line calibration in order to evaluate the recovery time

(g) at 4500 secs, the setpoint was readjusted to 0.3% and maintained throughout the remaining fermentation.
